Our Standards

Why you can trust our picks.

No paid placements, no unread studies, no hype. Here is exactly how we earn it.

A recommendation is only worth as much as the process behind it. This is the exact method behind every Glow Council article, and the standard we hold ourselves to before a word of it publishes.

How we choose a product

We don't run a testing lab and we aren't dermatologists. What we do is weigh real world evidence the way a careful friend would, in this order.

  1. We start with real demand. We look at what people are genuinely searching for and struggling with, so we cover the products that actually matter, not whatever pays the most.
  2. We read the reviews, at scale. We aggregate verified purchase customer reviews and cross check the rating and review counts across more than one independent data source. We summarize the patterns in our own words, and never copy a review.
  3. We ground every claim in science. Anything we say about an ingredient or how it works is checked against published research and dermatology guidance before it goes in.
  4. We name who it's not for. Almost nothing is right for everyone. We tell you the skin types, sensitivities, and budgets a product doesn't suit, not just who will love it.

Where our facts come from

Not all sources are equal. When we make a factual claim, we reach for them in this order, and we cite the one we used so you can check it yourself.

Peer reviewed research, firstPublished studies indexed in PubMed and PubMed Central.
Professional bodies and clinicsThe American Academy of Dermatology, Cleveland Clinic, and Mayo Clinic.
Established health publishers, as backupReputable, medically reviewed sites, used only for plain language context, never as our sole source.

Every source is verified before we publish

This is the part we take most seriously. Before an article goes live, we open every source we cite and confirm three things. The link works, it genuinely supports the specific claim beside it, and it comes from a credible publisher. We do not cite a study we haven't read, and we never reference a source from memory. If we can't verify it, it doesn't go on the page.

We keep our advice current

Formulas change, prices move, and review counts grow. Every article carries the date it was last updated, and when we revise one, we recheck its sources at the same time. Older guidance gets retired or rewritten rather than left to quietly go stale.

When we get something wrong

We will, eventually, get something wrong. When we do, we want to fix it. If you spot an error, a broken source, or a claim that doesn't hold up, email info@theglowcouncil.com and we'll verify it and correct it promptly.
